In terms of apologetics, I'm not sure the cultural mandate is a strong case alone. I think what we're seeing in our culture though is classic suppression of truth in unrighteousness, and it seems to be amped up to 11. This has been the classical problem of fallen man, who takes the natural revelation he has about God and nature and suppresses and perverts it.

Natural design speaks to the goodness of marriage between one man and one woman. The Scripture fleshes that out in fuller teaching. The task of the church is going to be to catechize the flock on biblical teaching about the nature and functions of marriage and to equip it to live in a world hostile not only to the special revelation of God's Word as to marriage but what man already has in natural revelation apart from God (but which he strenuously suppresses in unrighteousness as per Romans 1).

Kurt, thanks for writing this piece Brotha. This is immensely helpful and timely. I have a follow up question as I’ve been thinking more about this. Specifically, can Gay Marriage be considered anti-diversity in that it’s a homogenous counterfeit union between two people of the same sex?
